Thursday, March 15, Volunteers are needed to demonstrate fly casting and fly tying for the Decorah Parks and Rec Fly Fishing Clinic, at the Decorah High School Gym, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. If you'd like to help, contact Tom Murray or Bill Kalishek


Thursday, April 5: 7:30 p.m., April Chapter meeting, downstairs at T-Bock's in Decorah

We will have two guest speakers:

Lora Friest from Resource Conservation & Development Inc. (RC&D) in Postville will give a presentation on the Trout Run Trail-Decorah and how our chapter can participate.

Then Dave Vetrano, well known and respected Fish Biologist for Southwest Wisconsin will present "Wild Trout in Wisconsin."

Four members of the Chapter recently attended a TUDARE workshop with 24 other chapters on stream habitat improvment projects in the Driftless area. They will provide a brief review of this program and how it involves our chapter.


Saturday, April 7 -- Volunteers are needed to serve as instructors for a Fly Casting Clinic through Decorah Parks & Rec, which will be held at the Decorah Trout Hatchery, at 10:00 a.m. If you can help, please be there around 9:30 to help set up the rods and reels. Friday, June 1: Volunteers are needed to help with the Decorah Park and Rec Fishing Event for Kids at the Trout Hatchery, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. If you'd like to help, contact Tom Murray or Bill Kalishek

Mark your calendar for the Chapter Work Day to build bank hides for Trout River: June 28, 2008.

Because of recent problems with high water, and the threat of more to come, which might wash away the newly constructed bank hides before they can be put in place, the Work Day will be held at the Decorah DNR Fish Hatchery. Work will begin at 9:00, and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. (The chapter will be providing brats, chips, soft drinks, and special dutch oven desserts.) The Hawkeye Fly Fishing Association will be having a work day on Waterloo Creek on Saturday July 12, starting at 9am. The meeting location is the parking lot on Dead Horse Hollow. For a map of the location, click here.
