On Saturday April 10th, an Impromptu Clean-Up Day on North Bear was organized by Tom Murray, who had recently noticed a lot of trash near the Bjerke Bridge. The clean-up was a spontaneous gathering of a few members and not an organized Chapter Event, so don't feel bad if you weren't there! Tom Murray, Kurt Oakes, Chris Wasta, Jerry Grehl and Jeffery Skeate all picked up a lot of garbage, which filled the better part of Tom's pickup truck. Areas targeted were the Bjerke, Langland and Larson properties on North Bear Creek. The project lasted a leisurely three hours and no serious injuries were reported, though Skeate was bleeding from one hand at the end. The highlight of the event was Wasta and Oakes retrieving a huge piece of plastic lodged fifteen feet up a tree, a truly remarkable effort. Remember to occasionally bring along a trash bag on your fishing excursions and pick up what you can!
